Bellarine Estate 'Two Wives' Shiraz 2019
Region: Bellarine Peninsula, Geelong
Background: When Peter and Liz started the vineyard in 1996 they sought help from viticulturist Shirl. Both being blondes, Liz and Shirl often had their identities confused, and so the tale of the two wives was born. Only a Shiraz this bold and full of character could stand up to two wives!
Appearance: Vibrant deep brick red with purple tinges.
Nose: Complex and aromatic nose with savoury red fruit characters.
Palate: A distinctively cool climate Shiraz with vibrant boysenberry, cranberry and black cherry, mingled with an earthly smokiness and spice consisting of white pepper, cinnamon and clove. A fine web of tannins give this wine exceptional length and balance.
Winemaking: Wild fermented in small open top fermenters, pumped over, hand plunged and macerated on skins for 10 days. Aged in French oak from Allier forest for 16 months.
Cellaring: 10+
